This is a blog about nothing in particular. I am no one special, other than the fact that we are all special in one way or another. Along the ride we will talk about life in general, motorcycles, music, kids and other fun stuff. Sit back and enjoy the ride.

Gassing Day 2011

Today was April 2, 2011, official Gassing Day in Pennsylvania. Gassing Day is the official start of the riding season. Most people have been on the road already this year, as have I, but today was special for me. I got to ride my father's R75/6. This was the bike that my father owned when he passed away in 1998. At the time the bike was 23 years old. I then took ownership and used it as my daily rider for 5 years, and many miles. I rode it to Laconia, New Hampshire for Bike Week and many other day trips. In 2003 I bought my K1100RS after having some issues with the R bike. After working on for several years I finally got it road worthy.

This is Dad's old bike. It is a 1975 R75/6. It is outfitted with a rare Avon Lynx fairing, and Lester Mag wheels. It ran great today once it started and it was good to have it on the road.

This is snow. It snowed here yesterday, April 1. Haha. Actually I woke up to about 2 inches on my driveway. Enough to get the roads covered with cinders and salt and make the drive into school interesting to say the least. It was mostly a memory today and the temp got close to the 50's if not actually into them.

I had four guys come over to the house before the ride over to Quentin, PA to meet with others for the Gassing Day lunch. The is Rich's bike, while not an BMW, it is technically an airhead, so we let him slide. Fun bike I would love to have one like it.

Ron's RT, fully recovered from a mouse nest infused fire.

Todd's R100RS.

This is Chris. He likes to pretend he is tough guy. But notice that he is plugging in his electric heated gear to warm up. Wuss.

A beautiful R68. This was the oldest airhead at the event, my bike was the second oldest. Missed by 20 years.
