This is a blog about nothing in particular. I am no one special, other than the fact that we are all special in one way or another. Along the ride we will talk about life in general, motorcycles, music, kids and other fun stuff. Sit back and enjoy the ride.

Other people

You know, work would be fine if som much of what I did didn't depend on the performance of other people. Other people suck at their jobs, and of course when they don't do what they are suppoesed to do, it my fault. Of course it is, it really is. Maybe I am just cranky froma lack of sleep. At midnight my wife sent me to the store for some decongestant because she couldn't sleep. Thats fine, but after I got home I was all wired and I didn't get back to sleep til after 1:45am. I get up at 5:30 btw. So I didn't get a whole lot of the zzzs and I am suffering. But that really doesn't chage the fact that other people suck, they still do.

Riding, riding, riding

Ahhhh, I got the bike back from the shop yesterday. Nothing big being done, State Inspection, adjust the clutch and new brake pads on the back. I was good to ride again, even as cold as it was. I had the mechanic, who is a first rate guy, install the wires for the GPS system. Now I will be able to use that on the go as well. I have become very addicted to the GPS unit. Living here in a new location I am still learning my way around. Today I needed to be at a school out of my district and I was able to find it with no hassle.

Looking forward to two big trips this year so far. One is a trip down to the Barber Motorsports Museum, which is in Birmingham, Alabama. This is a trip that I have been planning on my own. I am hoping that a couple other people will make the trip with me down there during spring break. A few days, a couple of thousand miles and taking in hundreds of pristine classic motorcycles.

The other big trip is going to be the BMWMOA rally in Burlington Vermont. I love New England and the roads up there. I have traveled up there a few times on bikes and each time I love it more and more. You can’t beat the winding roads and beautiful scenery. Plus the smell of a pine forest always gets me too. The are some Pine forests up there, hopefully I will get to camp in one.

The job has been getting better and better recently and the house is going up quickly. I am hoping to stop by today on the way home and see what has gotten done over the last couple of days.

Saturday 1/28/06 I went for a nice long ride on the bike. As I was cruising around I went through the town of Klienfeltersville. I thought it a funny name for a town considering what I know about Klienfelter's Syndrome. Anyway the weather was great and it was nice to ride in January in Jeans and long johns.

Wow, great weekend

Mondays are tough always. Especially when its raining and miserable like it was this morning. The weekend was nice though. They are making good progress on the house building and we got a lot done around the apartment. I got the GPS system mounted on the motorcycle, it needs a little tweaking but it should work well I think. I am really looking forward to a nice long trip in April I am going to the Barber Motorsports Museum near Birmingham, Alabama. Close to 1000 miles one way. I have a couple of people I am trying to talk into going with me. We may try to do a Bun Buster 1000 mile day and get our Iron Butt association licence tag frames. Should be fun. The BMWMOA rally is in July and and in Vermont. I love New England roads so that should be a blast too. Once I get the garage I am going to get my Dad's old bike up and on the road again. It has been a long time and I feel really bad about its current state. Its all there and not too beat up, but I know that I am going to be really busy getting that bike going and on the road through the summer.

Blogging class, new ideas

As always when you learn something new you look for ways to apply it to your life as well as your work. The class I took was not really about how to blog as much as how a blog can be used in the classroom. Right away peoples warning flags go up. How can we dare let students blog. They might say naughty words, they might tell us what is really going on in their school, they might express actual opinions. Besides the naughty word part I don't think any of those are bad. A saying I heard years ago says that: Profanity makes Ignorance Audible. I like it a lot, but back to the point. Blogs could be very useful in a classroom setting. Students could work in groups or as individuals. Te teacher posts a paragraph, a quote, or a part of a writing and the students react to it. If everyone is required to answer it could be amazing to see how some of the quiet students, the ones who wouldn't say anything in class, might react, what they would write. I know there is a bunch of garbage on MySpace and Xanga, but there is some good stuff in there as well. We need to take advantage of it. Plus students are using these tools all the time, we need to as well.

Blogging class

So here I sit writing a blog in a class about write blogs. Cool huh? Can I tell you how much I love my GPS system? My sweetie wife bought me one for Christmas. What a joy. I get in the car this morning, punch up the address for this class which I stored last Saturday and drive. I got me here easily. The talking can be a little annoying esp. the jaunty way she says the word destination. Its like the little computer with the satillite link is happy that it got me to my destination. Silly really, but I do love the little box. Actully its a love fest tie between my iPod and my GPS.

Well the class is going well except for the fact that the internet is not working properly. Kinda hard to do blogging with no internet access. Silly.

Foggy Day

Well today was a fun drive into work. The fog was really thick and it made it very difficult to see. The Rush R30 cds were cranking as I was by myself with no midget type person in the back of the car. I can't complain really she likes most of the music that I play. I do not keep and "kiddie" music in my car, just "daddy" music. She will ask to hear one of her favorite songs "Hey Baby" by No Doubt. No really appropriate lyrics for an almost 4 year old, but there is no cursing so I am not all that worried about it.

The first post

Nothing profound nor Earth shattering here. Its just the first post on my blog. I am still not entirely sure what I am doing here, but as I am taking a Blogging workshop next week I thought I would get going and try it out. I have been posting for years on various Bulletin Boards at my favorite sites. Most of the time my comments should be taken with the tongue firmly in ones cheak, but sometimes I can be very serious. Since my default is sarcasm and humor I will be sure to let you know when I am being serious. Little biographical stuff. I am 41 years old and I work with computers all day in my job. I have a wondeful wife and an amazing child. They both keep me busy and on my toes. We have two cats and hundreds of praying mantises, well maybe I should explain that. See when we got our Christmas tree we found two praying mantis egg cases. Being the nice people we are we took them out of the tree and put them in a Mayo jar. The only problem was that there was no lid for said Mayo jar. A couple of months go by and one of them hatches. In the kitchen and see how there was no lid on the bloody jar the mantises went all over the kitchen. So we have been slowly getting rid of them. Kinda funny really. But that is one day in my life.
